Hi! My name is Mi and I am a freelance photographer based in Southam, Warwickshire. I opened my own business at the start of 2022! I adore it and wouldn’t change it for the world.
Alongside wedding photography, I also offer lifestyle and branding sessions. I have a custom-built studio in Warwickshire that keeps me busy! I am trained to work in both a studio environment and on location. I am a geek at heart when it comes to equipment and technology, but this allows me to be super creative when photographing and creating digital artwork for all of my clients! I use Canon mirrorless cameras with mostly prime lenses (for my fellow tech geeks out there!) I never shut up about photography and even have a ‘handbag camera’ accompanying me everywhere I go!
When I am not taking photos I am with my my dog! Her name is David and she is a Rottweiler… yes she is a girl! I love cuddling up on the sofa and watching a good movie, going to the theatre and ice skating. I also love travelling and have been very fortunate to have visited quite a few places around the world. Of course, I always take my camera with me too. I wish there was a funnier story to tell you as to why my female Rottweiler dog is called David, but unfortunately, I just have my dad’s sense of humour to thank. Would you believe me if I told you we had a cat called ‘Dog’ too!
She loves having her photo taken (probably because I bribe her with treats!). I know that I am biased but I think she is so beautiful and is definitely the most photographed dog in Warwickshire. If your pets are part of your wedding or shoot, expect to see loads of photos of them in your gallery—I’m a huge animal lover!
P.S. Her nickname is Licki Minaj…
My passion for photography started in 2016 when I studied A-level photography. I decided to pursue my passion and studied for the next three years at university. I graduated from Arts University Plymouth with a first-class degree in ‘Commercial Photography’. During my time at university, I specialised in beauty and fashion photography, whilst collaborating closely with a lot of industry professionals. You can see some of the work I created below.
I get asked this question all the time! My first name is Mi – you pronounce as ‘My’. It is my full name and not short for anything. My mums side of the family is from Finland and this is where the name comes from,. I am actually named after the moomin character ‘little my’. Don’t worry if you get it wrong, everyone does!
I use Canon mirrorless cameras – an R6 Mark II and an R5 to be exact. I also use mostly prime lenses on a wedding day and have a big mixture to swap between. Most of the day I use my 35mm, 50mm and 85mm. sigma art lenses. Although I do love a 16mm wide-angle lens for the dance floor! The photos just look epic.
I love photographing destination weddings! Obviously it combines two of my biggest passions travelling and photography. This year I have been lucky enough to photograph a wedding in Portugal and one in Tuscany too. I have always loved the vibes of a Vegas elopement at the little white chapel!
I was an extra in the movie ‘Nativity’ when I was eight years old! It is my claim to fame and was an experience I will never forget. It makes for a great story to tell at Christmas time!
Travelling is my absolute passion! Exploring different cultures and admiring architecture worldwide is one of my favourite things to do. I’m fortunate enough to have quite a few friends spread across the globe and I jump at any chance to visit them when I can. Obviously, the camera comes with me everywhere I go!
